I'm Edu. I build financial products in Latin America, and I write about the market I work in.

For seven years I've worked where regulation, payment rails and distribution make financial products hard to build. Most of that work has followed the same arc: launch something from zero, then make it grow.

At Nubank I helped launch the credit card in Mexico, leading growth, financing and fraud, and later led a credit card squad in Brazil. At a Latin American crypto exchange I hired the payments team and launched a card from scratch, from the Visa and Mastercard negotiations to product-market fit. At Clara I led product for Brazil, where we launched a B2B account with Pix under Central Bank rules.

Since 2024 I've worked on embedded finance from the other side: insurance sold inside the apps people already use. At Chubb and then MetLife I led digital growth across Latin America, building insurance into some of the region's largest digital banks and payment apps.

Before product, I was a consultant in Bain's private equity group in Boston and an M&A analyst at Lazard in Buenos Aires. That training is why the newsletter reads deals the way it does: what the money buys, and whether the business underneath can carry it.

I use frontier AI models every day for research and modeling, and built the pipeline that turns my essays into a podcast. I also coach a small number of product managers.
